19th Annual National Drug and Alcohol Abuse Recovery Month

Kick-off Press Conference: Thursday, September 4th

Local advocates and individuals in recovery will host a press conference at the Gaudenzia Weinberg Treatment Center (3643 Woodland Avenue). Speakers will include Mayor Sheila Dixon and Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia Jessamy.

Recovery Staff Appreciation Day: Wednesday, September 17th

Local drug and alcohol treatment agencies will celebrate the dedicated individuals who make recovery possible.

Treatment Center Open Houses:

Treatment centers all over the city will open their doors to the community, so that area residents can learn how recovery happens.

         Wednesday, September 24th

    • 9am-12pm: Open House at Recovery Network (201 N. Charles Street)
    • 5pm-7pm: Open House at Universal Counseling Services (122 Weber Street)
    • 5pm-8pm: Open House at Recovery In Community (31 N. Fulton Avenue)

         Thursday, September 25th

    • 5pm-7pm: Open House at REACH Mobile Services (2104 Maryland Avenue)

         Friday, September 26th

    • 2pm-5pm: Open House at Total Health Care (1501 W. Saratoga Street)
    • 10am-1pm: Open House at the Baltimore Community Resource Center (21 West 25th Street)

2nd Annual Recovery Walk and Rally: Saturday, September 27th, 8am-2pm

To show united support for treatment and recovery, Baltimore residents will walk from The Lord’s Church of Baltimore (5010 Park Heights Avenue) to a rally at Druid Hill Park featuring guest speakers, live entertainment, a children’s fun zone, a raffle for prizes, and free food. Sen. Catherine Pugh and Hon. Patricia Jessamy are the honorary chairs of this year’s event. For more information, call 410-664-4300.
